New Delhi: On 16 April 2020, two saints were thrashed to death by a mob in Palghar, Maharashtra. The matter had gained a lot of attention at that time. Now the Shinde faction-BJP government in the state has agreed to hand over the investigation of the case to the CBI. Maharashtra's Eknath Shinde government told the top court on Tuesday that they have no objection to handing over the investigation of the 2020 Palghar lynching case to the CBI.

In the affidavit filed in the court, the Maharashtra government led by Eknath Shinde has said that it is ready to hand over the investigation of the Palghar mob lynching case to the CBI. Let us tell you that earlier the Uddhav government had opposed the CBI inquiry into the matter. This move is being seen as a big U-turn for the Maharashtra government. Actually, when this incident happened, Uddhav Thackeray's government was in the state at that time. The Thackeray government had told the Supreme Court that there was no need for a CBI inquiry into the Palghar lynching case.

At that time, the Thackeray government had said that the Maharashtra Police was fully competent to investigate this incident. However, later the Shinde faction government in the state filed an affidavit in the top court saying that they are ready to get a CBI probe for a fair investigation in the 2020 Palghar lynching case.
