Mumbai: The Maharashtra government put a stay on the salary of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, who is said to be missing. Mumbai Police has also approached the court seeking a non-bailable warrant against him. Earlier, during a hearing in the Bombay High Court on October 20, the state government had said that their location could not be ascertained.
According to the report, the Maharashtra government has considered the former police commissioner as a fugitive. At the same time, the Government has taken action and withheld their salaries. The state government is now preparing to take suspension action against Parambir. On the other hand, the Mumbai Crime Branch has filed a petition in the sessions court seeking a non-bailable warrant against Singh. It will be heard on October 29. The crime branch is investigating the charges against Parambir Singh. Earlier, the Mumbai police had summoned him for questioning on October 9, but he neither appeared nor met at his house in Malabar. The notice was issued following a media report claiming that Parambir Singh had fled the country to Russia.
Let us tell you that at least five criminal cases are going on against Parambir Singh. A case has been registered at Goregaon police station on the complaint of builder and hotelier Bimal Agarwal. Agarwal had alleged that Parambir Singh had taken Rs 9 lakh from him twice more for not raiding the restaurant. It also forced two smartphones worth Rs 2.92 lakh to be purchased. It is claimed that the incident took place between January 2020 and March 2021. Apart from Parambir Singh, sacked police officers Sachin Waje, Sumit Singh alias Chintu, Alpesh Patel, Vinay Singh alias Babloo and gangster Chhota Shakeel's henchman Riyaz Bhati have been named as accused in the complaint. It was Parambir Singh who had accused then Home Minister of the state Anil Deshmukh of demanding Rs 100 crore per month from hotels and bars in Mumbai.
