Mumbai: The Bhiwandi police in Maharashtra has summoned suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma to record her statement on Monday in connection with the alleged objectionable remarks against Prophet Mohammed. In fact, an official gave this information today i.e. on Sunday. Senior police inspector Chetan Kakade told reporters, "Apart from Nupur, expelled BJP office-bearer Naveen Kumar Jindal has also been asked to record her statement on June 15 on the alleged controversial tweet against Prophet Mohammad.'' The officer further said, "Following a complaint lodged by a representative of Raza Academy on May 30, the Bhiwandi police registered a case against Sharma. They have also filed a case against Jindal.''

Earlier, the Mumbra police in Thane asked Sharma to appear before them on June 22 and recorded her statement on her remarks. In fact, the Mumbai Police has also summoned him to record a statement regarding his remarks about the Prophet during a TV debate on June 25, which created a major controversy. The police had sought a video of the debate from the news channel concerned and the BJP had on June 5 suspended its national spokesperson Nupur Sharma and expelled Delhi BJP media chief Jindal after his alleged derogatory remarks against the Prophet sparked outrage in India and Gulf countries.

Earlier, Nupur Sharma has also been summoned from The Pydhonie police station in Mumbai. In fact, this summons of the Mumbai Police is related to the investigation and recording of Nupur's statement.
