Aizwal: Around 12 people were trapped in an accident at a stone quarry in the northeastern state of Mizoram late on Monday (November 14) evening. The administration is conducting a campaign to save them. It is said that this incident happened during the ongoing work in the mine. It is not yet known whether there was any loss of life or property in the incident. According to the information revealed, the accident took place on Monday (November 14) evening in the Hanthial village of Mizoram.

According to the report, the administration reached the spot as soon as the information about people being trapped in the mine and a rescue operation is being carried out. Media reports quoted sources as saying that the employees of the private company in Maudarh of Hanthial district had just returned from their lunch break when the stone quarry collapsed. According to the information, 12 labourers along with five Hitachi excavation and other drilling machines have been buried under the mine.

As soon as the accident was reported, the people of the local village and Hanthial town reached the spot and started assisting for the rescue operation. State Disaster Force, Border Security Force and Assam Rifles have also been called in to assist in rescue operations.
