Kolkata: Counting of votes is underway for assembly elections in 5 states of the country including West Bengal. In Bengal, even though the BJP had given the slogan of '200 par,' the party seems to be stuck beyond 100 seats. TMC trends are now leading in 180 seats. Polling was held in 292 seats, which requires 147 seats for a majority. In this sense, TMC seems to be easily moving towards a majority. Though one of the big things now is that even though the TMC government has been formed, CM Mamata Banerjee seems to be lagging behind in her own seat. She is trailing by more than 3500 votes over her old Siphasalar Suvendu Adhikari from the Nandigram seat.
Not only that, but many veteran faces of the BJP are also following. Rajya Sabha member Swapan Dasgupta, who was a Rajya Sabha member to create the BJP's air in the elections, seems to be lagging behind in the Tarakeswar seat. In the initial trends, Swapan Dasgupta is seen trailing by more than 3,000 votes from the Tarakeswar seat. Swapan Dasgupta is pitted against Trinamool Congress' Ramendu Sinharai in the Tarakeswar seat. Tarakeswar assembly seat falls in Hooghly district of South-West Bengal region. Apart from him, actress-turned-politician Locket Chatterjee has also lagged far behind.
BJP candidate from Chunchura assembly seat Locket Chatterjee seems to be lagging behind in the early trends. He is pitted against the current TMC MLA Asit Majumdar in the seat. Apart from him, Union Minister Babul Supriyo is also trailing. Babul Supriyo is in the fray from the Tollygunge seat. TMC's Arup Biswas is leading in this seat. Arup Biswas is currently leading by more than 9,000 votes over Supriyo.
