BJP will not come in power in 2024: CM Mamata Banerjee

Kolkata: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee today once again lashed out at the BJP. She said it is certain that the BJP will not come to power in 2024. Trinamool Congress (TMC) president Mamata said that they (Bharatiya Janata Party) have no work, their job is to take over the state governments through 3-4 agencies.

CM said "They (Bharatiya Janata Party) captured Maharashtra, now efforts are going on in Jharkhand but Bengal will defeat them. It is not easy to break Bengal because here you have to fight the Royal Bengal Tiger first." She further said ''I am confident that the Bharatiya Janata Party will not come (to power) in 2024. Unemployment in India is increasing by 40 per cent, but in Bengal, it has come down by 45 per cent. Today, the media trial is going on and they are calling people criminals. They only want to malign the image of Bengal.''

On the arrest of her minister Partha Chatterjee, Banerjee said that there is no problem with the functioning of any agency, but it should not be used to defame political parties. We are against 'media trial'. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Partha Chatterjee on July 23 in connection with the probe into the alleged teacher scam in the school. The agency had also arrested his close aide Arpita Mukherjee. The Enforcement Directorate has claimed to have recovered Rs 21 crore in cash from Arpita's hideout.
