Kolkata: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has alleged that the pressure created by central agencies and the politics of central government's vengeance are responsible for the death of former Trinamool Congress MP and famous Bengali film actor Tapas Paul. Let us tell you that 61-year-old Paul died of a heart attack in Mumbai on Tuesday. He was an accused in the Rose Chitfund scam case and had also been in jail for almost a year.
According to media reports, Banerjee has paid tribute to Paul, alleging that another Trinamool Congress leader, Sultan Ahmed, also had a heart attack. According to Mamta, he was under stress since being made an accused in the 2017 Narda Taps scam case. In Kolkata's Rabindra Sadan, Mamta told the press that "Tapas Paul was under tremendous pressure from the central agencies and he was a victim of the politics of the Center's reprisal". The body of Paul is kept in Rabindra Sadan so that people can pay tribute to him.
Mamta said that people are getting jailed, but the central agencies are unable to prove what they have done. If a person commits a crime, he should face action. But we still do not know what crime was committed by Tapas Pal and others.
