Kolkata: West Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee has urged her counterparts in the Northeast and non-BJP ruled states to decide its form, its questions and criteria before deciding on the National Population Register (NRC).

Mamta Banerjee further said that I would appeal to all the Chief Ministers, Governments of Tripura, Assam, Manipur, Arunachal and the states ruled by the opposition parties to read the law properly and detail the details of the NPR form before reaching a decision. Take cognizance Describing the NPR exercise as a 'dangerous sport', he said that the details of birthplace of parents and the form seeking proof of residence are nothing but a pre-indication of the implementation of NRC.

Mamta Banerjee said that I appeal to her not to participate in this exercise because the situation is very bad. Banerjee said that she has come to know from the news that it is not compulsory to fill the column related to birthplace in the parents' NPR form. He said that if this is not mandatory then why is this column put in the form? Efforts should be made to remove these questions.
