Kolkata: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has attacked the BJP over the Yeddyurappa government of Karnataka refusing to give compensation to the families of those killed in Mangaluru violence. Mamta has said that BJP does not fulfill its promises. Also, the Bengal CM has announced that his government will give Rs five lakh as compensation to the families of those killed.

Mamta has advised the BJP not to play with fire, saying that peaceful protests will continue till the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is withdrawn. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo accused the BJP of not fulfilling its promises at a protest rally organized in the city. He also referred to the statement of Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa regarding withholding compensation for the families of the two people killed in the police firing during a protest against the CAA in Mangaluru.

Yeddyurappa told the press on Wednesday that if the investigation proves the involvement of both the people in the violence that took place in the protests on December 19, their families would not be given a single rupee. Along with this, Mamta asked the students to continue the protest. Mamta told him that she will always be in support of the students.
