Kolkata: West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee is not in favor of banning the Ganga Sagar Mela this year amid the rapidly increasing cases of corona virus infection in West Bengal. During the hearing of a public interest litigation in the Calcutta High Court on Thursday, the state government has informed the High Court about this.

Let us inform that during the hearing of the case on Wednesday, Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court Prakash Srivastava wanted to know from the state government whether it is possible to close the Ganga Sagar Mela amid Corona crisis? What does the state government want? After which on Thursday, the Advocate General on behalf of the state has informed the High Court. The Advocate General informed the High Court that corona infection does not spread through salt water.

State Advocate General Gopal Mukherjee has informed the High Court that the State Government has received a report from the District Magistrate. The state government in its decision has considered many issues in depth. The state government is in favor of continuing the fair. Some necessary protocols will be followed in the fair. Special focus will be on e-darshan and e-snan during the mela.
