Karaikal: The 48-year-old man Pugazhendi here in order to save three persons including 10-year-old boy from high tides lost his life. The incident took place yesterday when the boy was caught in these tides and two man tried to rescue him who then struck in it.

Pugazhendi saw all this and jumped in water to rescue them and saved boy and one person life. While he was trying to save the other man they both were caught in string tides. When he and the youth were taken to the Karaikal government hospital, doctors declared Pugazhendi dead while the youth is going under the treatment in Intensive care unit.

Pugazhendi  is a fireman at Puducherry fire station and came Karaikal to celebrate the harvest family.
