IMPHAL: Since the resentment among a section of BJP MLAs against Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh grows, another ruling party legislator, Raghumani Singh, quit on Monday as the Manipur Renewable Energy Development Agency (MANIREDA) Chairman citing "personal reasons".
In his resignation notice to Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh dated April 25, Raghumani Singh said that he quit from the post "for personal reasons and also in the public interest, it is felt that my continuance as chairman of MANIREDA is not called for at this juncture".
Notably, Earlier e BJP MLAs resigned from their administrative posts in the state.
Paonam Brojen Singh, a BJP member of the legislature from Wangjing Tentha Assembly Constituency, submitted his resignation as chairman of the Manipur Development Society last week. He stated 'personal grounds' as the explanation for his resignation.
On April 17, Karam Shyam, a BJP legislator from Manipur's Langthabal Assembly district, resigned from his position as chairman of the Tourism Corporation of Manipur.
Shyam said that as Chairman of the Tourism Corporation of Manipur, he had not been given any responsibilities in his resignation letter to the state's chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh.
As the chief minister of Manipur's advisor, BJP MLA Thokchom Radheshyam Singh resigned on April 13. Radheshyam also bemoaned "not being given any responsibility" in his resignation letter.
Chief Minister Biren Singh said on April 23 that there are no differences of opinion or resentment among the legislators. After winning 32 seats in the sixty-member Assembly, the BJP government retained power for a second straight term in last year’s polls. Various other parties are also supporting the BJP government.
