Imphal: The fire of violence that erupted in the northeastern state of Manipur on May 3 has not yet subsided. At least 80 people have lost their lives. Hundreds of people have been injured. Meanwhile, the state and central governments have announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each for those who lost their lives in the violence. Along with this, a job has been announced for each member of the family of the deceased. The compensation amount will be borne by both the central and state governments together. Officials have given information about this on Tuesday.
According to the report, the compensation has been announced after a meeting between Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Manipur CM N Biren Singh on Monday. It has also been decided in this meeting that things like LPG, petrol, rice and food products should be made available to the people at a lower price. Apart from Shah, Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla and IB Director Tapan Kumar Deka were also present in this meeting.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday met several women leaders of Manipur in Manipur and said that together we are committed to ensure peace and prosperity in the state. Shah also met a delegation of civil society organisations in Manipur, a Home Ministry spokesperson said.
