Imphal: A hearing has taken place in the apex court regarding the Manipur violence. Meanwhile, the Center and the State Government have told the court that the situation in Manipur is returning to normal. There was no violence in the state for two days. At the same time, the Supreme Court said on Monday (May 8) about the people displaced due to violence that they should be brought back home.
According to media reports, a bench of Chief Justice (CJI) DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha and Justice JB Pardiwala heard the petitions filed in the Supreme Court regarding the Manipur violence. During this, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta presented the side on behalf of the Central and State Government. During the hearing, the apex court termed the current situation in Manipur as a humanitarian issue. Along with this said that there is no doubt that the government is working. But, the government should make proper arrangements in the relief camps. The people living there should also be provided with basic amenities like ration and medical facilities.
Responding to the Supreme Court regarding the situation in Manipur, the Solicitor General (SG) has said that there has been no violence in the state in the last 2 days. That's why relaxation in curfew was also given. From the point of view of security, helicopter and drone are also being monitored. Necessary facilities are being provided to the people living in the relief camps. In response to a question regarding security arrangements, SG Tushar Mehta said that 52 companies of paramilitary forces and more than 100 companies of Assam Rifles are handling the security arrangements in the state. Flag marches are being held in violence affected and disturbed areas. The SG said that the state government is continuously working for the protection of religious places. The central government is also keeping an eye on this whole matter. Efforts are being made to protect not only the religious places but also the people and properties in the state.
