Manoj Bharti has been appointed as the first working president of the newly formed Jan Suraaj party, led by Prashant Kishor. Bharti, hailing from Madhubani district in Bihar and belonging to the Dalit community, was chosen in alignment with Kishor's commitment to having a Dalit leader at the helm.

Bharti boasts an impressive educational background, having attended Netarhat School in Bihar and graduated from IIT Kanpur. He entered the Indian Foreign Service in 1998 and has served as India's ambassador to four countries, including Ukraine and Belarus. His extensive involvement in social and political activities in rural Bihar has established him as a respected grassroots leader.

His leadership in various social movements and reform initiatives, particularly those aimed at improving public welfare in rural areas, has earned him a strong reputation in the region. This blend of grassroots experience and dedication to social issues makes him a fitting choice for the key role in the Jan Suraaj party, highlighting the party's emphasis on inclusivity and addressing critical social challenges.

As the first Working President, Bharti will focus on strengthening the party’s presence in Bihar under the strategic guidance of Prashant Kishor. The party aims to become a significant contender in upcoming elections by concentrating on grassroots issues essential to Bihar's development.

During the appointment event, Prashant Kishor outlined the party's constitution and sought public support. He introduced several innovative features of Jan Suraaj, including a one-year term for the president and a two-year term for the Leadership Council. Notably, Jan Suraaj will be the first political party in India to implement the 'Right to Recall,' allowing the public to elect and remove their representatives mid-term.

Kishor also mentioned that the party has applied to the Election Commission for an official flag featuring images of Babasaheb Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi, symbolizing the party's foundational values.

In his address, Manoj Bharti highlighted the strong bond Biharis have with their homeland, stating, “You can remove Biharis from Bihar but cannot remove the Bihari mentality from their hearts.” He expressed concern over the frequent floods in North Bihar, promising that Jan Suraaj would transform the rivers from a curse into a blessing for the region.

Drawing on his diplomatic background, Bharti shared, “Bihar has a rich cultural heritage, and I often gifted Madhubani paintings and Bhagalpur silk to foreign dignitaries. Jan Suraaj is a party that makes solid decisions after thorough study.”
