In the ongoing 22nd Asian Athletics Championship in Odisha's Bhubaneswar yesterday the India's Manpreet Kaur won a gold medal in the women's shot put event. In the opening day of the event at the Kalinga Stadium Manpreet threw 18.28m to achieve the gold medal.
Vikas Gowda won a bronze medal in men's discus throw event. Apart, from this Iran's Hadadi Ehsan won the gold while Malaysia's Irfan Muhammad settled for the silver.
Gowda said "I am happy with the medal. This gives me confidence for next year's Commonwealth Games,"
