Uttarakhand Congress again faces political turmoil, many leaders angry over new appointments

Dehradun: After the defeat in the Uttarakhand assembly elections, the infighting in Congress is not taking the name of stopping. Since the election results came out, Harish Rawat and Pritam Singh were accused of losing and losing the election by factionalism, triggering a political uproar. Eight to 10 Congress MLAs are expressing their displeasure over the appointment made by the central leadership to the posts of the leader of the opposition, state president and deputy leader of the opposition.

The factionalism of Congress leaders was considered to be the reason behind the crushing defeat in the assembly elections. The issue of resentment created after the new appointments have also reached the high command. Ganesh Godiyal, who was made the state president a few months before the elections in Uttarakhand, has now been replaced by Karan Mahra. Mahra is the brother-in-law of former CM Harish Rawat and has lost the election from the Ranikhet seat in this assembly election.

The top leadership of the Congress has appointed leaders of Kumaon in all the three major posts in Uttarakhand and many leaders of the Garhwal division are very angry with this. In the assembly elections, 19 MLAs of the Congress have won, but many leaders are upset with the new appointments. It was almost certain that if the post of the president went to Kumaon's account, then the post of leader of the opposition would go to Garhwal Division. In such a situation, the appointment of former state president Pritam Singh to the post of leader of the opposition was considered almost certain, but the top leadership has given the post to Yashpal Arya,  who returned to the Congress.
