Ahmedabad: Will election strategist Prashant Kishor join Congress ahead of the upcoming Gujarat Assembly elections? There seems to be complete confusion in the Gujarat Congress regarding this. Many leaders say that the party is already strong in rural areas and PK may not make much difference in urban areas, which have traditionally been a stronghold of the BJP. A message has been sent to the party high command that any further delay in arriving at a decision will affect the party's strategy.
According to the report, Prashant Kishor is looking for a bigger opportunity in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections with the Congress instead of the Gujarat elections to be held in November 2022. At the same time, a senior Gujarat Congress leader said that there is a 50-50 situation in the party regarding Kishor working for the party. The Congress had given a tough fight to the BJP in the 2017 elections and brought down the ruling party to double digits in the 182-member state assembly. However, in the last five years, many Congress MLAs have switched sides.
Another Gujarat Congress leader said that PK cannot make much difference for Congress in Gujarat. Congress is a stronghold in rural areas and even leaders know that defeating BJP in urban areas is extremely difficult. So, what's the use of spending so much money to get PK on board? It should be given to the candidates for campaigning and other activities. This will benefit the party more.
