Mumbai: The Maratha reservation in Maharashtra has once again sparked. Many Maratha organizations have called for a bandh in the entire state today over the Maratha reservation. The Maratha outfits supporting the BANDH have asked the Uddhav Thackeray government to provide reservation to Marathas in jobs and education. The Supreme Court, in its judgement on 9th September, said, " 30% of Maharashtra's population is Maratha and cannot be compared with the marginalized sections of remote villages. '

Further, the court had stayed the implementation of the law for providing reservation in education and jobs in the state for the Maratha community. The Maharashtra government had enacted this reservation law for the socially and economically backward classes in the year 2018. Now, at present, a three-judge bench of Justice L Nageshwar Rao has given the matter to the Constitution bench. It is said that Chief Justice SA Boelder is now going to constitute a new bench to hear it. According to reports, the reservation was given by the Maharashtra government on 30th November 2018 to the Maratha community, which was 16% reserved.

After the Supreme Court judgment, various Maratha organizations are now pressurizing the state government to remove the court's stay. Talking to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, he has already told the protestors that the state Government will again approach the Supreme Court on the issue of reservation.
