LONDON: The strain on struggling manager Frank Lampard heaped when Marcus Rashford scored for the fifth game in a row as Manchester United defeated Everton 3-1 in the FA Cup third round on Friday.

Everton entered the Premier League relegation zone this week after suffering a humiliating 4-1 home loss to Brighton, and they went to Old Trafford in fear.

Although they got off to the worst possible start with a goal from Brazilian striker Antony in the fourth minute, they managed to draw even ten minutes later when Conor Coady capitalised on a mistake by United goalkeeper David de Gea.

To give the advantage back to the home team, the Everton defender put the ball in his own net early in the second half.
In the last seconds of the game, Rashford extended United's lead by scoring from the penalty spot to keep up his streak of scoring in every game since the World Cup.

Rashford, who won the game's MVP award, said his recent goal-scoring performance was on par with his best periods in his career.

The English forward said that the team's trophy drought, which dates back to 2017, was driving the players crazy.

In Erik ten Hag's first season as manager, the Red Devils, who most recently won one of their 12 FA Cups in 2016, are in fourth place in the Premier League and have advanced to the League Cup quarterfinals.

The outstanding Rashford drove down the left and into the penalty area before sending the ball across the box into the path of the quickly approaching Antony, giving the in-form team the lead.
