Kia is preparing to debut a new seven-seater SUV in India, after the introduction of its Korean brother Hyundai's Alcazar three-row SUV. The automaker has previously stated that a three-row MPV will be launched in India early next year. The MPV, which might be based on the company's successful subcompact SUV Sonet, has previously been observed testing on Indian roads numerous times.

For the Indonesian market, Kia had previously developed a seven-seater variant of the Sonet SUV. The three-row SUV was introduced in April of this year and is priced at IDR 199,500,000 (approximately Rs. 10.21 lakh).

The new Kia MPV, which is expected to compete with the Maruti Ertiga and XL6, may be a stretched Sonet SUV with just one more row of seats, a slightly bigger wheelbase, and a length of more over four metres. According to the spy shots, the new MPV, codenamed KY, would most likely be fitted with LED headlights and DRLs, chrome highlights, and 17-inch dual tone wheels.

The next Kia MPV is unlikely to include a sunroof, unlike the three-row SUV built on the Sonet, which has the AC vent installed on the roof for third-row passengers. The AC vents for passengers in the second row are located under the centre armrest, between the front row seats.

The Kia Sonet Premiere 7, the top-of-the-line seven-seater, is fitted with a 10.25-inch LCD infotainment screen. Multiple Bluetooth connections, voice recognition, USB and AUX connections, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are just a few of the features available.

The 1.5-litre Gamma II Smartstream Dual CVVT engine utilised in the Sonet seven-seater SUV is anticipated to power the next Kia MPV. It has a maximum power output of 115 PS at 6,300 rpm and a maximum torque output of 144 Nm at 4,500 rpm. The engine will very certainly be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or the Intelligent VT transmission. 

Expecting the 2019 Kia MPV to include all of the newest safety and comfort features from the automaker. 6 airbags, ABS braking system, EBD and Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Assist Control and Emergency Stop Signal, a rear camera with dynamic parking guide, Remote Engine Start, Wireless Smartphone Charger, and Tire Pressure Monitor System, among other features, are likely to be included.
