Washington: The Hindu America Foundation (HAF), a major Hindu organization in the US, has campaigned against the ban on the 'Hindu Swastika', the sacred symbol of Hindus. The organization has raised objections to a bill by the House of Delegates in the US state of Maryland, depicting swastikas as a sign of 'hatred'. The bill calls for banning the use of swastikas in clothes, books, schools, and similar places.

Subsequently, the HAF has told Maryland governors, state senators, and state delegates that Maryland's 'House Bill 0418' misinterpreted the swastika, the sacred symbol of Hindus. In this bill, the Swastik symbol originating from the Sanskrit language has been compared to the Nazi insignia, which is completely wrong. HAF said that the Swastik is made up of the Sanskrit words 'su' and 'asti', which means 'to be good'.

The organization also said that swastikas are used not only by Hindus but also by Buddhists and Jains in their homes, temples and holy places on traditions, daily prayers and special religious occasions. This symbol is very sacred and revered by Hindus around the world. Along with this, Swastik trade establishments, ornaments and artifacts are also used as a symbol of prosperity.
