Fire breaks out in Delhi textile godown, 18 fire dept vehicles reached the spot

New Delhi: A massive fire broke out in a cloth godown at Harkesh Nagar in Okhla phase 2 of the country's capital Delhi at around 3.45 am this morning. 18 fire department vehicles rushed to the spot to control the fire. The fire department has said that no casualties have been reported so far. According to the information, the cotton warehouse of Okhla Phase 2 has caught fire. The fire has reached the basement and the first floor. The fire department is continuing to douse the fire.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. The fire department is trying its best to control the fire. Delhi Fire Service Director Atul Garg said that a fire broke out in Sanjay Colony of Okhla Phase-II over the phone at 3.51 am after which 18 fire tenders were sent to the spot. Earlier, three persons were slightly injured in a fire at a guesthouse in East Delhi's Shakarpur area on October 3. Delhi Fire Service officials said that the fire was reported on the phone around 5 am after which five fire tenders were sent to the spot.

 

 

A senior fire department official had informed that the electric meter caught fire after which it also engulfed the guesthouse reception, lobby and other parts. However, the fire was brought under control at around seven in the morning. He said three people suffered minor burns in the incident and have been given first aid. Delhi Fire Service Director Atul Garg said the five-storey guesthouse was being run without getting a no-objection certificate from the fire department.
