New Delhi:- Defending champion Max Verstappen was reduced to a cameo of his victory as F1 fans clamored for second place on the day Brad Pitt took to the F1 grid to shoot his new movie.

Aside from Verstappen losing the lead to Lando Norris in the early laps and then regaining the lead, Verstappen's Cruz on Sunday fell short of his sixth straight win with one more win. There was no Hollywood drama like a battle for second place between Norris and seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton.

It's been an intense season, with the Red Bull drivers taking a commanding victory and behind them Mercedes, Ferrari, Aston Martin and now McLaren battling for the second fastest team. It is perfect for this.

"It's very confusing because every race is different, to be honest," said Verstappen. Filming for Pitt's upcoming F1 film took place over the weekend before and after the F1 session, using the fictional APX team's black and gold car. Pitt himself and his co-star Damson Idris walked down the pre-start grid in their racing suits.

Verstappen extended his lead in the overall standings to 99 points over team-mate Sergio Perez. His 1st place in the race is awarded his 25 points.

Verstappen started from pole position and later admitted he had a "terrible" start before being passed by McLaren's Norris, but regained the lead on lap five and held it until the end. Red Bull has won 11 straight out of 10 races this year, including the final race in 2022, tying McLaren's record of 11 straight wins set in 1988.

Norris, who unexpectedly finished second on the grid in qualifying, was expected to fall behind, but remained Verstappen's closest challenger throughout the race. After the safety car restart, he was in a close race with Hamilton, who was theoretically on faster tyres, but retained second place, achieving the best result for McLaren and himself since 2021. "It was an incredible match," said Norris.

Hamilton, who started seventh, praised the crowd for his 14th career podium at Silverstone. "I didn't do it, the audience did it," he said. "We felt the energy and support, which is why we came back there."

McLaren newcomer Oscar Piastri posted a career-best fourth place ahead of Hamilton's Mercedes teammate George Russell as McLaren's revamped car proved far more competitive than the team had predicted. obtained.

Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz had just pitted, leaving Ferrari among the losers. They finished 9th and 10th respectively.

Race organizers and police were on high alert to prevent a repeat of protests after environmental activists stormed the track at last year's race. This includes police using facial recognition systems at racetrack entry gates. This is a relatively new and controversial technology in the UK.

Motorists warned that repeating protests on the route would endanger their safety and the safety of demonstrators entering the route. Last year's protests came shortly after an accident led to a red flag stoppage. In other words, the car had already slowed down on the way to the pits.
