New Delhi:-  Lando Norris says he has campaigned for Mclaren CEO Zak Brown to introduce a chrome-inspired livery since joining the team in 2018. Five years later, his wish finally came true.

Mclaren will wear a one-off livery that combines chrome and gray with the team's traditional papaya at this weekend's British Grand Prix at Silverstone to continue the year-long celebration of its 60th anniversary.

This is his homage to one of the most iconic liveries Mclaren has worn from 2006 to 2014. Lewis Hamilton won the World Drivers' Championship in this colorway in 2008, which was the last world title for Mclaren.

Speaking at a livery launch at a special event at the McLaren Technology Center in Woking on Monday, Norris said the chrome McLarens of the late 2000s and early 2010s were a reflection of his growing up in the sport. He said he liked it. I dream that one day he will be on the grid in a chrome McLaren.

"It's probably been over 1,300 days since I joined McLaren! 'In 2018, that was probably one of the first words I said (to Zach),' said Norris. "According to my recollection, maybe at that time, he was showing me the livery that we're going to have in 2019.

“I loved the white and bright orange when walking down the boulevard, so the livery was great, but I don’t think there is a better car now than the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes back then.”

“Before that, he was more interested in MotoGP, motorcycles, motocross, and quad bikes. I started watching that F1 race and it was Lewis [Hamilton] vs Fernando [Alonso, 2007] even though it was the same team and he was really into that match.

"He said every year he wanted to go back in that direction a little bit because he messed up [Zach] a little bit. He knows it's for just one race but in a way. It's kind of cool to relive a little bit of the events that inspired me to get into F1, and you can also see that it's a very historical part of McLaren. They were very successful at the time, including when Lewis became the first world champion. So it's very special. ”

Lando Norris added that“For us, it is very important that we remember the past but are very excited about the future. What you've done in is really only allowed a few times, and then there are variations on that basic scheme that you can do a little more often.

“Apart from the rules, I think it was important to us. Just like the red of Ferrari or the color identity of Mercedes, we are trying to create a connection with papaya. We've gotten a lot of feedback, so that's why we decided on this combination."

Lando Norris was waiting for the new car livery to come out and finally it came out and Lando was very happy about that.
