Meet the Chennai boy, who wins Google Community Impact Award for Asia

The prestigious Google Community Impact Award has been announced by the Google India on Tuesday, which honoured 14-year-old Advay Ramesh with the first position for producing a device that improves fishermen's safety and productivity.

A 14-year old boy who hails from Chennai and studies in class 10 at Chennai's National Public School.

According to Google's spokesperson, "Young minds are inventive, thoughtful, and determined to try things that other people think are impossible. It's imperative for us to support and encourage these young people to explore and challenge the world around them through scientific discovery".

Ramesh has won $10,000 and a year-long mentorship from Scientific American, as well he is also among 20 finalists for a Google scholarship worth $50,000.

His project, named as 'FishErmen Lifeline Terminal' (FELT), helps to improve fishermen safety and productivity using the Standard Position Services (SPS).
