Shillong: BJP minister in the Meghalaya government, Sanbor Shullai, has encouraged the people of the state to eat more beef than chicken, mutton, and fish. Senior BJP leader Sanbor Shullai, who was sworn in as cabinet minister last week, said everyone in a democratic country is free to eat whatever they want. I encourage the public to eat more beef than chicken, mutton, or fish, Sanbor Shullai told reporters on Friday. By encouraging the people to eat more beef, the perception that the BJP will ban cow slaughter will be removed.

The same Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister Sanbor Shullai also assured that he would hold discussions with Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to ensure that cattle transport in Meghalaya is not affected by the new cow law in the neighboring state. On the difficult border dispute between Meghalaya and Assam, three-time MLA Sanbor Shullai said that it is time for the state to use its police force to protect the border and its persons.

At the same time, he said that if the people of Assam continue to harass our people in the border areas, now is not the time to talk and have tea. We have to react, we have to take action on the occasion itself. However, he clarified that he is not a supporter of violence. We should have a sense of protecting our individuals, we should use our force. He also said that Meghalaya police should go to the front to discuss with the Assam police.
