The Meghalaya government is set to introduce QR codes in school textbooks, offering students additional resources accessible via smartphones, officials announced on Wednesday. Education Secretary A. Marak highlighted that this move aims to improve students' time management and provide them with more learning options.

"We are embedding QR codes in school textbooks to provide extra information on various subjects. This initiative is designed to help students manage their time better and gain additional knowledge according to their interests," Marak explained.

How it Works: The purpose of this initiative is to enable students to use QR codes with their mobile phones or any device with a scanner to access educational apps featuring accurate video lessons and solved question papers. This will help students spend less time searching for the right study materials and exercises, allowing them to dedicate more time to learning.

By scanning the QR codes with their mobile devices, students can access educational apps with video lessons and solved question papers. This will reduce the time spent searching for study materials and allow students to focus more on learning, Marak added.

R. Manner, Director of the Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT), emphasized the benefits of this technology. He noted that QR codes in textbooks can greatly assist students in self-improvement and in-depth study of particular subjects.

Education Minister Rakkam A. Sangma commended the initiative, emphasizing the government's dedication to providing comprehensive educational resources to students in Meghalaya.
