Shillong: According to health officials, 65 new cases were registered in the state on Tuesday, 101 new patients were cured and one died. The lone death reported on Tuesday was from East Garo Hills district and the person was not vaccinated. With the latest figures, the state now has a total of 1,439 deaths, 740 active cases and 80,900 have recovered from the virus so far. Out of 65 new infections, 43 in East Khasi Hills district, nine in West Khasi Hills district, West Khasi Hills Six were recorded in the district, two each in Ri-Bhoi district and West Garo Hills district and one in South Garo Hills district in East Garo Hills district, North Garo Hills district.

India recorded 14,623 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, which is 12 per cent more than yesterday. With the fresh cases, the country's total caseload has now risen to 3,41,08,996, according to the data released by the health ministry early on Wednesday. In the last 24 hours, 197 people have died in the country, taking the total death toll to 4,52,651. India's recovery rate is now 98.15 percent.

Kerala is among the top five states that have reported the highest number of Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. Kerala reported 7,643 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 1,638 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,179 cases, West Bengal with 726 cases and Mizoram reporting 665 cases.
