Mehbooba Mufti and her mother Gulshan reach ED office, questioned in money laundering case

Srinagar: Gulshan Nazir, a mother of former Jammu and Kashmir CM and PDP supremo Mehbooba Mufti, appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Srinagar today in connection with the money laundering case. He was accompanied by Mehbooba Mufti. In fact, the ED had sent a notice to the mother of former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti in a money laundering case on Friday, August 6. Nazir is the wife of late Jammu and Kashmir CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

Mufti had said that the notice had been sent to his mother Gulshan Nazir and she was asked to appear at the Srinagar office in ED on August 18. The Mehbooba Mufti-led PDP had also criticized the ED over the incident and said it was no coincidence that whenever the party opposed the Centre's policy on Jammu and Kashmir, it was summoned. Before coming to the ED office, the party had told ED that Gulshan Nazir should be allowed to bring a person with her as she was not well aware of English, Hindi, and Urdu languages and if the details of the case were known, it would help her get ready for questioning.

The criminal case registered under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) pertains to the recovery of at least two diaries after the ED raided an alleged associate of Mufti.
