New Delhi [India], May. 01 (NT): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has assigned portfolios to newly appointed ministers in the state government.

A government order issued in Jammu on Monday stated that Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta who commented on Kathua rape case and calling it as ‘Choti si bat ‘has been assigned the charge of Industries, Commerce and Transport.

PDP's Pulwama MLA Mohammad Khalil Band has been provided Agriculture Production, while BJP's state unit chief Sat Paul Sharma and PDP MLA from Sonwar Mohammad Ashraf Mir are assigned Housing and Urban Development Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs respectively.

Sunil Kumar Sharma, who was a minister of state for transport, has been given the portfolio of power development.

BJP's Kathua MLA Rajiv Jasrotia was assigned Forest Ecology and Environment while Sambha MLA Devender K.Manyal has been provided Health and Medical Education.

The reshuffle was required by the dismissal of Lal Singh and Ganga. Along with Samba MLA Kuldeep Raj, Jasrotia, who represents Kathua seat in the assembly, was involved in getting Lal Singh and Ganga to the public meeting.

All these ministers administered the oath in the presence of Governor Vohara yesterday after a major cabinet-reshuffled in Mehbooba Mufti led PDP-BJP government. (NT)
