Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has expressed his delight as Threads, the latest text extension platform on Instagram, completes one year. Launched on July 5, 2023, Threads has gained immense popularity, with over 175 million users already using the platform. This milestone comes despite stiff competition from micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter).

Initially, Threads faced a significant challenge in attracting users from X. However, its seamless integration with Instagram profiles made it easy for users to switch to Threads. Within a week of its launch, Threads had already gained 100 million users. While some users didn't find Threads appealing and distanced themselves from the platform, Zuckerberg remains optimistic.

In a post, Zuckerberg wrote, "What a year it has been!" He had earlier stated that Threads had crossed 150 million monthly active users (MAU). While this metric indicates the platform's popularity, it doesn't reveal other crucial metrics like daily active user count and user engagement time.

According to market intelligence firm Sensor Tower, Threads has attracted users, but the company has struggled to increase engagement. The average user spends around three sessions and seven minutes daily on Threads, which is 79% and 65% lower than the metrics recorded in July last year.

Despite these challenges, Meta remains committed to enhancing the Threads experience, and the platform's one-year milestone is a testament to its growing user base.
