Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has stopped the construction of the ongoing Keshopur-Peeragarhi section under Phase-IV after summoning the violation of Forest Protection Act, 1980 on behalf of the Forest Department. According to DMRC Executive Director (Corporate Communications) Anuj Dayal, work on this corridor has been stopped at present and will be started only after getting approval.

The Deputy Conservator of the Western Division believes that DMRC was not allowed to start work in the 5.34 km radius of road number 26 between Vikaspuri and Piragadhi intersection. On this, Najafgarh drain has about 1,300 meters of forest area and for this many summons have been issued in February and August, in which DMRC has been asked not to do any construction on the road number 26 and part of Najafgarh drain, but DMRC has Ignoring it, he refused to stop working on it. It is primarily a case of violation of the Forest Protection Act, 1980.

Apart from this, DMRC claimed that in April 2018, it had applied for permission to cut trees between Krishna Park and Mukarba Chowk. The application was again sent in September 2019. During this time, seven visits of Forest Department officials were also done in connection with Metro alignment, but still could not get approval. Completion of metro projects on time is a professional compulsion, and the delay in completion of development work done for the betterment of the general public increases the cost as well as difficulty.
