KIEV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a virtual address to the European Council summit in Brussels that the military alliance is "yet to show what it can in the aftermath of Russia's continuous war on Kiev.

Despite the fact that Ukraine is not a member of the 30-member defence alliance and is currently in a "grey zone between the West and Russia," Zelensky said in a late-night speech that "we protect our common ideals."

"We are enlightened people, just like you, because we are in a grey zone! That gives us a month's worth of defence." On the 30th day of the conflict, the President said that it had been a success "A month of valiant struggle, a month of the deepest agony. A month in which Russia was free to destroy the peaceful state and, with it, the entire global security system "..

"Russia is investing outrageous amounts of money in death, while the rest of the world is investing in life," he said. Zelensky went on to applaud Europe for coming together in support of Ukraine, claiming that three and a half million individuals who fled the country are now "already in NATO nations."  "We appreciate the assistance given to these individuals." He did, however, tell European leaders that they were too late in intervening to halt Russia.
