Actor Mimicry Dayanand, who has featured in over 340 Kannada films spanning two and half decades, is making his debut as a director with the suspense thriller movie Anireekshitha, which has Bhama Arun in the female lead. The film was shot during the lockdown in Mangaluru and Kerala and will be released in Malayalam as well. Guru Kiran has composed the music.
Dayanand says, “Having started my career as a mimicry artist, I wanted to do something unique, so I waited for many years to direct a movie. The story revolves around the murder incident of an RJ and an honest constable whose voice is never heard by the police department and by common people. I will be seen in a serious role, which people have not portrayed before. There are only two actors in the entire movie, which is a rare attempt in Sandalwood without songs, and only background music, which will keep audiences on the edge-of-the seat.”
On shooting during the lockdown, he states, “We had to do a lot of things ourselves, like cooking, makeup and keeping the sets in order, which I thoroughly enjoyed doing. More than that, precautionary measures were spot on as no outsiders were allowed and none from our film crew got COVID, which is a testimony to how well we handled it.”
Mimicry Dayanand is an Indian impressionist, stand-up comedian, actor and television presenter from the Karnataka state of India. He is renowned for his impression of politicians and film actors of Karnataka. Dayanand has featured in many comedy albums and has presented a television show, Kachaguli that aired on ETV Kannada.
