Rohtas: Liquor smuggling is in full swing in Bihar even after prohibition. On Wednesday, two smugglers carrying liquor in the Kochas police station area of Rohtas district mistook the ambulance as a police vehicle and jumped into the river to escape. One smuggler died due to drowning in the water, while the other was seriously injured. He was taken to the hospital, but he also died on the way.

The incident took place on the Sasaram-Chausa road under the Kochas police station area. On Wednesday, liquor smugglers jumped into the Dharmavati river along with a bike after mistaking an ambulance as a police vehicle near Bhagatganj Bhagiratha. One smuggler died on the spot, while the other was badly injured. He was brought to Kochas PAC in an injured condition. Where the doctors referred him to Varanasi for better treatment in view of his serious condition. But he died on the way.

It is being told that motorcycle-borne smugglers, who were bringing liquor from Uttar Pradesh via Gara Path, jumped into the river with a motorcycle in the illusion of the police. The deceased have been identified as Arun Singh, a resident of Kharwania in the Dhansoi police station area, and Deepak Yadav, a resident of Narwar in the Dinara police station area. Liquor was recovered from a plastic bag from the river. Dinara police have taken both bodies into custody and sent them for post-mortem.
