Aizawl: The state government had constituted a core committee in 2018 to study and assess the state's boundary. He said that it was reconstituted in 2019 with Chief Secretary Lalnunmawia Chuanog as its chairman. Responding to a question by Congress Legislature Party leader Jodintluanga Ralte, State Home Minister Lalchmalliana said in the Assembly, “The core committee is currently functioning in the state. It is working on the border by collecting topo-sheets and important documents related to the state border with Assam. Research and analysis. The Mizoram government has devised a strategy and is making massive efforts to resolve the long-standing border dispute with the neighboring state of Assam.

A core committee was constituted to study and assess the census. It was reconstituted in 2019 with Chief Secretary Lalnunmawiya Chuanong as its chairman. According to the Home Minister, the state government has constituted a team to compile important documents that support Mizoram's stand on the border issue. and will be placed before the experts of Manohar Parrikar Institute of Defense Studies. Lalchmalliana said that a boundary committee of all political parties and NGOs has also been formed recently under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Tawanluia to deal with the issue.

The Home Minister claimed in the Assembly that Assam has occupied a vast area. Tension escalated on 26 July when police forces from both the states opened fire, killing six Assam Police personnel and a civilian. The border dispute between the two northeastern states is a long-standing issue and several attempts to resolve it since 1994 have yielded little result.
