Mizoram Readies Nearly 4000 Personnel for Election Vote Counting

Aizawl: With the eagerly anticipated assembly election results day approaching, Mizoram is intensifying its preparations for the crucial counting process.

Chief Electoral Officer of Mizoram, Madhup Vyas, disclosed that close to 4000 personnel are slated to be actively engaged in counting the votes cast during the Mizoram assembly polls. Scheduled for December 3, the counting will take place across 13 designated centers throughout the state.
Madhup Vyas assured readiness on the part of the State Election Department for the meticulous task. "We have 13 counting centers and 40 counting halls in place. Our comprehensive preparations ensure we are fully equipped for the counting process," stated Vyas.

He emphasized the secure storage of all Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in strong rooms situated across district headquarters to maintain the integrity of the electoral process.

Adding to this, H Lianzela, Additional CEO of Mizoram, detailed the setup for counting day. "We have arranged 399 EVM tables and 56 Postal Ballot tables across the 40 counting halls statewide," Lianzela confirmed.

The Mizoram DGP, Anil Shukla, highlighted the comprehensive arrangements made for a smooth and incident-free counting day. "The ECI has scheduled the counting for December 3 across various districts. All voting machines are securely stored in various districts. We are working in tandem with civil administration for the counting process. External forces like CAPF and central forces are present along with IRBn and Mizoram armed police to ensure foolproof arrangements for a smooth counting process," said Shukla.

The recent Mizoram assembly polls witnessed a robust participation, with 80.66 percent voter turnout recorded during the voting held on November 7.

A total of 174 candidates contested in the assembly polls, with the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF), Zoram People's Movement (ZPM), and Congress fielding candidates for all 40 seats, while the BJP contested in 23 seats.
