Chennai: MK Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, visited rain-stricken and water-logged areas in Chennai on Tuesday and distributed food to the city's poor. The chief minister assessed the situation in the city's affected areas following the city's incessant rains.

Chennai experienced the heaviest rains in six years with the arrival of northeastern rains, bringing back memories of the 2015 floods. It caused flooding in the city's central and northern areas.

Meanwhile, low pressure has formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal and its environs, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), and is expected to move from west to northwest, passing near the north Tamil Nadu coast by the early morning of November 11.

"A low-pressure area has formed over the same region as a result of the cyclonic circulation over the southeast Bay of Bengal and its environs. In a tweet, IMD stated that "associated cyclonic circulation extends up to mid-tropospheric levels." “Over the next 36 hours, it is very likely to concentrate into a Depression over the Southwest & adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal." By the early morning of November 11, 2021, it is expected to move west-northwestwards and be near the north Tamilnadu coast,” it added.
