New Delhi: The Central Government has announced the support price of rabi crops for the next crop procurement year 2022-23. The Government has substantially increased the support price of mustard, gram, lentils, and barley including wheat. The support price of wheat has been increased by Rs.40 per quintal to Rs. 2,015 per quintal, which is about 100% higher than the cost of wheat (Rs.1,008 per quintal). The support price of all other major rabi crops has also increased. A meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday decided to increase the MSP of rabi crops.

As per the information furnished by the Union Ministry of Agriculture, the support price of mustard has been increased by Rs.400 per quintal and for the crop procurement year 2022-23, the support price of mustard has now increased to Rs.5,050 per quintal, which is about 100% more than the cost of mustard production (Rs.2,523 per quintal). This effort of the Government will help in increasing the production of oilseeds in the country.

130 per quintal and now the MSP of gram has gone up to Rs.5,230 per quintal. The MSP of Masoor has been increased to Rs.400 per quintal and gone up to Rs.5,500 per quintal. MSP (Minimum Support Price) is the rate at which the Government procures foodgrains from the foodgrains. At present, the Government prescribes MSP for 23 crops grown in both Kharif and Rabi seasons.
