Prime Minister Modi started Jan Dhan accounts. The purpose of this plan of PM Modi was to connect every citizen with the banking system. Their aim was to bring such people into the banking system, who had no bank account before. You can open these accounts by reaching any bank branch. These accounts are opened on zero balance and there are many other benefits including accident insurance, overdraft facility, check book. In Jan-Dhan Yojana, 53% of the bank accounts opened so far are of women, while 59% of the bank accounts have been opened in rural and urban areas.

You get many kinds of facilities in free-of-charge Jan Dhan accounts. In this, you also get RuPay Debit Card along with overdraft facility. On this card you get Accident Insurance free of Rs 1 lakh. If you want to take a checkbook, then you have to keep in mind that you always have to keep some amount in your account. If you do not do this then you may have trouble getting the checkbook.

Corona: Domestic violence cases increasing even during lockdown

In order to provide money to the needy during lockdown in the country, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has recently announced to put 500 rupees every month in the Jan Dhan account for the next three months. After this announcement by the Finance Minister, about 20 crore women of the country will get direct benefits. The first installment will be deposited in the account holders account on 3 April. Prime Minister Modi has announced the dates.
