Ranchi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's difficulties seem to be increasing in the defamation case of Modi surname. Rahul Gandhi will have to be physically present in the MP-MLA court located in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. The MP-MLA court has rejected the petition of Rahul Gandhi, in which his lawyer had demanded from the court that his client be exempted from personal appearance. But, the court has rejected this petition of the Congress leader.

Let us tell you that, during the campaign for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi had made a controversial remark regarding the Modi surname in the public meeting. In this matter, Purnesh Modi filed a case in a Gujarat court. In this case, the Surat court sentenced Rahul Gandhi to two years in jail. After this, according to the rules, his membership of the Lok Sabha also went away. The Congress campaigned against it across the country. Eventually, Rahul challenged this decision in the Gujarat High Court. The Gujarat High Court refused to stay the decision of the lower court. Being hurt by the remark of Modi surname, a case was registered against him in Ranchi as well.

After getting a setback from the Gujarat High Court, now Rahul Gandhi has got disappointed from the Jharkhand court as well. Here too, a case was registered against him for making controversial remarks against the Modi surname. A hearing was held in the MP-MLA court in Ranchi on Wednesday in this matter. In the hearing, Rahul Gandhi's lawyer requested the judge to exempt his client from personally appearing in the Ranchi court, but the court rejected his plea. The court said that Rahul Gandhi will have to appear in the Ranchi court.
