Mohammad Haris Brushes Off Comparisons to Suryakumar Yadav

Sri Lanka: Youngster Mohammad Haris, who is frequently referred to as Pakistan's Suryakumar Yadav, has finally addressed the comparisons made between him and the top-ranked T20I batter in the world.

Due to their disparity in ages, Haris claimed that comparing him to Surya is completely pointless.

Haris, who is presently captaining Pakistan A at the Emerging Asia Cup 2023, believes he must put in a lot of effort to catch up to the India star.

“We shouldn’t compare between the two of us just yet, Surya is 32-33 years old, I am still a 22-year-old boy. To reach that stage I still have to put that work in,” Haris was quoted.

Haris acknowledges he wants to be known as the next 360-degree cricketer while discussing his unique shot choices and playing style.

“Surya has his own level, De Villiers had his own level, I am my own level well. I want to make a name for myself as a 360-degree cricketer, not use theirs,” he said.

Under Haris' direction, the Pakistan A cricket team is undefeated so far in the Emerging Asia Cup being played in Sri Lanka.

Pakistan A defeated Nepal in their opening match of the competition by a margin of four wickets. In their second game, they defeated the United Arab Emirates A team by a score of 184 runs with ease.

In that match, Pakistan A batted first and amassed a respectable total of 309 runs, with Haris getting 55 runs off of just 46 balls and nine boundaries.

During the run chase, the UAE team gave up for 125.

After winning their first two games, Haris' ability to lead his team today against the top-ranked and bitter rivals India A is anticipated to be tested. With a win today, Pakistan A would move into first place in Group B rankings going into the semifinals.

Haris has so far played 14 games for Pakistan at the senior level. His strike rate in T20Is is 127.27.
