The southwest monsoon has reached most parts of the state with a delay of two days. On Tuesday, the monsoon has knocked over most of Kumaon division and some parts of Garhwal division. The remaining parts are expected to reach the monsoon during the next 48 hours. Due to this, heavy rains can occur in many areas of the state. The monsoon reaches the state normally on June 21. After reaching the monsoon in Kerala before June 1, the state was also expected to reach the monsoon before June 21. Although it took an extra two days to reach here, the monsoon has covered almost all parts of Kumaon on Tuesday, according to the bulletin issued by the weather centre.

Only Udham Singh Nagar and parts of Nainital are left. Except for some places in Garhwal division, the monsoon can reach during the next 48 hours. The weather centre director Bikram Singh said that the conditions are favourable for the southwest monsoon to proceed during the next 48 hours. During this period, the entire Western Himalayan region (including Uttarakhand) will reach the monsoon. Due to this, heavy rains may occur at some places in Dehradun, Tehri, Nainital, Champawat and Pithoragarh districts today. This will also relieve heat and humidity. He said that heavy rain is expected to occur in most areas by 26 June.

On June 25, heavy rains may occur in Nainital, Pithoragarh and Dehradun. Heavy rains are expected at select places in Tehri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Udham Singh Nagar, Champawat and Bageshwar. According to Meteorological Director Bikram Singh, the monsoon may be slightly better this year in the state. He informed that the monsoon normally prevails in the state from June 21 to September 28-29. During this time it is normal to have 1229 mm of rain. However, the weather department has considered 1191 mm of rain this time as normal. He said that the monsoon is expected to be normal in the country.
