NEW DELHI: Rajya Sabha was adjourned for today, July 20 as Opposition parties continued to protest over the issue of price rise. The Lower House discussed some issues under Rule 377, but was later adjourned till 4 PM.

The Weapons of Mass Destruction and Their Delivery Systems (Prohibition of Unlawful Activities) Amendment Bill, 2022, was the first item on the agenda when the House reconvened in the afternoon. Deputy Chairman Harivansh called Congressman Shaktisinh Gohil to speak on the bill.
While this was going on, the opposition parties, led by Congress, continued to demonstrate and chant in the House.

Some members of the Upper House entered the well despite many appeals from the deputy chairman. He asked them to return to their chairs.

Randeep Singh Surjewala was also observed snapping pictures within the House, and he was requested to stop by stating that it was against the law. Even Piyush Goyal, a minister for the Union, noted that some members were snapping images. The Rajya Sabha deputy chairman called P Wilson to speak on the bill when he couldn't find Gohil doing so. Wilson asked the deputy chairman to order the House, but he called Prashanta Nanda of the BJD to speak about the bill. Wilson afterwards declared his willingness to speak on the issue.

The opposition parties urged that the discussion on price increases take place right away, putting the day's agenda aside, despite Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu's said that he had authorised it. Naidu postponed the proceedings until 2 pm when opposition members started to enter the House's well carrying packets of milk and curd that were subject to a 5% GST as of July 18.
