New Delhi: As soon as the second day of the Monsoon Session started, demonstrations and sloganeering by the opposition parties against inflation and GST rate hikes caused the Rajya Sabha to adjourn until 2 pm.
The Lower House of Parliament has been adjourned till 2 o'clock in the afternoon while opposition lawmakers yell about inflation and price increases.
The Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla, said that it was against the rules to bring placards within the House before adjourning the House's proceedings.
The Monsoon Session of Parliament began on Monday and will continue till August 12. There will be 18 sessions during the Session. The Rajya Sabha's first day had also seen a commotion caused by opposition party members after disruptions in Rajya Sabha proceedings, which resulted in the House being adjourned for the full day.
Following oath affirmation and obituary references, a Joint Opposition made up of the Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, and Shiv Sena caused a commotion in the House. Overinflation and a hike in the GST on some essential commodities, opposition leaders demonstrate in the Upper House and proceed to the House Well. While the Rajya Sabha Chairman was still speaking, members of the opposition raised issues.
Given that both the presidential and vice presidential elections will take place during this session, it is crucial. The Vice Presidential election will take place on August 6, and the Presidential election took place on Monday.
The Agnipath scheme, price increases, and unemployment are just a few of the topics that the opposition is likely to bring up during the monsoon session.
