Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar on Tuesday told the Legislative Council that more than 15,000 posts related to Maharshtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) will be filled up at the earliest. He said the remaining members of the MPSC panel will be appointed by July 31. The State Government is also considering to increase the number of members in the Commission from the existing 6 to 11 or 13 so that the interview process can be expedited. In Pune, the issue of delay in conducting MPSC examination and final interview came up due to the self-pleasure of a MPSC candidate.
Pune-old Swapnil Lonkar had cleared the preliminary and main examination of 2019 and was waiting for the final interview. The deputy CM said, "Swapnil Lonkar's incident of self-happiness is unfortunate. It should not happen to anybody." He said the interview process came to a standstill after the apex court banned the Maratha reservation given by the then government.
Pawar told the house that CM Uddhav Thackeray asked him to convene a meeting of officials to take concrete steps to declare the results of the MPSC examination at the earliest. "As per the instructions, we held a meeting with the officers and prepared a concrete plan to announce the results. We have directed to fill up the vacant posts in all the departments and also allowed filling up of vacant posts in various categories of MPSC since 2018. A total of 15,511 posts related to MPSC will be filled up at the earliest," he said.
