Dumka: In a shocking incident, a mother and daughter were allegedly assaulted in a panchayat in Jharkhand over an illicit relationship. Then the mother was stripped naked in front of hundreds of people. On receiving the news of the incident, the police reached the spot and registered an FIR against 15 named and more than 100 unidentified people on the complaint of the victim woman. At present, the police have not arrested anyone.

In fact, a tribal woman from Jamunia village under Saraiyahat police station area of Dumka district has given a written complaint in the police station alleging that my daughter had gone to the house of Om Prakash Murmu of Bhoratand village. Where his wife and daughter got into a fight. When the matter came to light, the daughter was held hostage by the people of Bhoratand village. When I got the information, I rushed to the village to rescue her. When I reached the village, I saw that there was a panchayat there. They had imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on the daughter.

The victim's mother says that when I protested against the fine, those people considered me guilty of my daughter's mistakes. Just then, the people present in the panchayat stripped me naked and beat me up in front of a crowd of hundreds. The victim has lodged a case against 15 named and 100 unidentified persons in this case. Saraiyahat police station in-charge Vinay Kumar said that there were reports of misbehavior with the mother and daughter. The police reached the spot and rescued both of them from the clutches of the people and took them to the hospital. A case has been registered against the accused under sections 147, 149, 323, 354, and  354B of the IPC. The station house officer also said that Om Prakash Murmu, a resident of Bhoratand village, is married. He is having an affair with the victim woman, a resident of Jamunia village. When the girlfriend reached the boyfriend's house, his wife, who was already present there, got angry on seeing her and started beating her. The station house officer said that a case has been registered on the application of the mother in the case of being beaten naked. From the other side, the lover's wife has filed a case of assault against her husband, girlfriend, and her mother. At present, the police have not arrested anyone.
