Bhopal: The tenure of Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains has been extended once again, on the request of CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the central government has given permission to extend the tenure for 6 months, let us tell you that Iqbal Singh Bains Extension has been received for the second time, now he will remain in office till 30 November 2023.

His tenure was about to end this month. This extension will be valid for the period from June 1 to November 30, 2023. Assembly elections are to be held in Madhya Pradesh in November-December. In such a situation, it is clear that the dates of the elections would have been announced and on November 30, 2023, the Model Code of Conduct would be effective in the state. Till then Iqbal Singh Bains will continue to be the administrative head of the state. 

On May 17, the Central Department of Personnel and Training informed the Principal Secretary, General Administration Department that the state government had written a letter on May 6 requesting to extend the tenure of 1985 batch IAS officer and Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains. This has been approved. It is clear that now Iqbal Singh Bains will remain the Chief Secretary till 30 November 2023. This extension has been granted under AIS (CS-RM) Rules 1960 in relaxation of Rule 16(1) of AIS (DCRB) Rules 1958. The retirement of Iqbal Singh Bains took place on 30 November 2022. Till then the State Government had not selected any other officer as the Chief Secretary. An extension of 6 months was given on the same day Bains was to retire. CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan himself had made efforts regarding the extension of Iqbal Singh Bains.
