Mumbai: At least 3 persons were killed and more than 20 people injured in a rush at Elphinstone railway station's foot over bridge.

The incident happened on the foot overbridge which is known to be jam-packed of people most of the times and particularly for the duration of peak hours.

Officials from BMC disaster management have said that the incident took place around 10.46am and 20-25 people are said to be injured in this suffocating incident. Three persons have died in the incident.

As per reported at least 3 people are found dead and over 25 people have reportedly suffered injuries after a stampede that ensued on a foot-over-bridge at the Parel Railway Station. All the injured are being rushed to nearby hospitals and a team of doctors has also reached the spot. With the rescue operation underway, several injured people are being treated with first aid at the station itself. Some reports suggest that there was a rumor of the foot-over-bridge falling that prompted the panic rush. 

 

More than two dozen injured in a stampede caused by heavy rain this morning at a narrow foot over-bridge near a local train station in Mumbai. The incident took place around 10.45 am during rush hour near the Parel and Elphinstone stations. Early visuals showed people lying on the ground and attempted to revive them. A large number of offices are in the area, and these two stations receive much of the city's train traffic.

In an unfortunate incident, as many as 3 people were reported dead while more than 25 people were injured in a stampede at Mumbai’s Elphinstone railway station. The incident took place at the foot overbridge of the railway incident. The casualties are likely to go up. The real reason behind the incident is still not clear but is being reported that since there are two exits of the station, it led to the stampede. No official statement has given about the incident yet. A video of the incident was uploaded by multiple news channels. In this video, one can see that people were trying to get out of the station by climbing the railings. The incident took place is one of the most crowded railway stations of Mumbai. The rescue operations are currently going on.
